Tell Governor Ferguson that he needs to pressure ICE Sector Chief Rosario Pete Vasquez to release detained farmworker leader Alfredo ‘Lelo’ Juarez Zeferino and immediately cease detaining immigrant community members.
Farmworker union leaders are being targeted
Together we can stand against this unjustice
On the morning of March 25, 2025 local farmworker leader and organizer Alfredo Juarez Zeferino, better known as Lelo, was detained violently by ICE. He was on his way to drop off his partner at her work place, and ICE agents broke his car window when he tried to exercise his rights. We feel this is a targeted attack on Farmworker leadership, and we must not allow this to continue.
Lelo’s leadership and activism have been vital in protecting farmworkers and immigrants rights and well-being. In Skagit Valley, he has long worked with flower farmworkers to advocate for fair wages and safer working conditions.
Currently, Lelo remains in detention at the NW ICE Processing Center (previously known as the NW Detention Center) in Tacoma Washington. Community to Community secured him legal representation, who are proactively using every legal tool available to protect his rights and work towards his release. Our team is in touch with him on a daily basis, and continues to offer support as he navigates this process.
