Oaxaca-born artist Brenda Brito Espinosa (1994) sculpts multicolor designs from "colored dust" using soft pastels and charcoal. Embracing these mediums' tactile and expressive nature, she creates visual narratives on paper. Based in Skagit Valley, Washington, Brenda Brito Espinosa holds a BA in Illustration from Seattle Pacific University (2016).

"Farmworkers Seeding the Future" celebrates the strength and resilience of Skagit Valley's farmworkers, particularly the Mujer Campesina (Farmworker Woman). She is covered in red—the color of passion, blood, and action. Like a vibrant flame, she stands defiantly, her strength coming from the justice she seeks for her family. Embodying the hands that nourish our community, she holds her woven basket high, which overflows with Skagit's diverse bounty—from berries to the valley's renowned potatoes, brussels sprouts, and tulips—symbolizing the region's rich agricultural heritage. She is surrounded by corn, once a simple grass—it became the vital life source of entire civilizations. It is a gift from our ancestors, representing sustenance, careful cultivation, and hope for future generations. The words Health, Dignity, and Respect rise on young corn stalks filled with future, emphasizing the vital conditions needed in this present moment for growth and prosperity. Their roots run deep into the rich, dark-nutrient soil, symbolizing the connection between farmworkers and the land they cultivate. The Eastern Sun rises brightly in the background, carrying within sight our united tomorrow. To all farmworkers, this vision is an invitation to celebrate the fruit of our present, remember our strength and contributions to humanity, to bravely take up space, and lose the fear of calling the place we now stand “home.” The journey is not over; today, Farmworkers are seeding the Future.

"Trabajadores del Campo Sembrando el Futuro" celebra la fuerza y la resistencia de los trabajadores del campo de Skagit Valley, en particular la Mujer Campesina. Está cubierta de rojo, el color de la pasión, la sangre y la acción. Como una llama vibrante, se muestra desafiante y su fuerza proviene de la justicia que busca para su familia. Encarnando las manos que nutren a nuestra comunidad, sostiene en alto su canasta tejida, que rebosa de las diversas cosechas de Skagit—desde bayas hasta sus famosas patatas, coles de brusela y tulipanes—simbolizando la rica herencia agrícola de la región.
