People's Participation Lab

  • 1319 Cornwall Ave Suite 101 Bellingham, WA, 98226 United States (map)

Our People’s Participation Labs are a space for people to learn how to build community power towards system change! Join for fun, community-building, and collaborative conversations.

Our next PPL will give us a chance to learn about the status of the H-2A Visa program. Across the US, including in Skagit and Whatcom Counties, the H-2A visa program has dramatically expanded. H-2A workers have fewer rights and protections against exploitation on the job than local workers do. This year a record number of local farms are seeking H-2A contracts in Washington State, displacing local workers and their families from their jobs and housing, and deepening the crisis of food insecurity.

When farmworkers are uprooted from their homes and pushed out of work at local farms our food system becomes less secure and a huge strain is put on farmworker families as they seek new work and new places to live. We refuse to accept the expansion of H-2A in Whatcom and Skagit counties and we invite you to join us to learn more at our People’s Participation Lab and push back together!

Please RSVP if you can join so we can be sure to have enough snacks and beverages!
